As a value-added service to Compupen, Pen2Net offers a subscription-based Application Service to allow Handwriting-to-Text conversion, document verification, digital authenticaion, and timestamping capabilities. The Application Service also offers Medipen and SciPen users a powerful Electronic Data Interchange system.

Bluetooth technology embedded in Pen2Net devices allows for wireless transmission to Bluetooth-enabled mobile telephones and laptop/PDAs. Following data download into a Bluetooth-device, the Bluetooth host application opens an encrypted communications channel to Pen2Net servers via a Pen2Net Internet Portal. Pen2Net servers then format the data and process the Pen2Net input according to the services established by subscription. Typical applications of the Pen2Net ASP include:

Consumer Application Suite

As part of the Consumer service, Pen2Net offers handwriting-to-text conversion capabilities and Internet services to users of Compupen. Added-value offerings include timestamping and digital authentication services for applications that require sensitivity but not full-time subscription services as featured in MediPen and SciPen. At current time, subscription rates have not been established, but nevertheless are expected to range close to paging/personal-messaging subscription service price.

Healthcare Applications

Pen2Net’s servers supply Medipen with the computing power to analyze and integrate digital text into the database systems currently used throughout the healthcare industry. Pen2Net servers process information and formulate it into either proprietary data formats (customized) or XML-formatted output easily imported into XML-capable IT systems.

The applications envisioned include:

code-compliant tags to written comments on patient records
patient tracking systems by doctor based on Pen2Net’s authentications services
Automatic Q&A screens on Medipen’s LCD display with written input as reply
Pharmacy applications (prescription authentication services)

Pen2Net is currently developing it’s integration software to match most common systems in use in today’s healthcare settings.

Scientific Applications

Pen2Net’s server function as third-party, 100%-objective, fully secure sources for research and military data verification. Pen2Net’s servers time-stamp data and provide upon request records, indexed by user and application, of data submitted to the service. Any applications benefitting from accurate, verified time-stamping could potentially benefit from Pen2Net’s SciPens.
